SIGNS OF HOPE
If you’ve stopped by SALT at Our Kakaʻako lately, you might have noticed some signs with motivational messages posted throughout the property that put a smile on your face. It’s all a part of a partnership between POW! WOW! Hawai‘i and Kamehameha Schools.
Artists teamed up with the school to launch the Mana‘olana (which means “hope” in Hawaiian) Campaign. The purpose is to bring some light into the community during these challenging times and inspire everyone to keep going.

REDFISH: The restaurant is offering takeout and dine-in specials for Father’s Day. The takeout special features Chef Reid’s Bo Ssam, which is his take on the classic Korean wraps, and a chocolate toffee whiskey cake for dessert. The dine-in menu features togarashi-crusted ahi crudo, hot king crab and artichoke dip, and a yuzu pepper 10-ounce ribeye steak. H MART FOOD HALL GUIDE
It’s only been open for a few weeks, but we’ve literally tried every food vendor inside the new H Mart in Kakaʻako, and we’re happy to report – it’s ALL good.
GIOVANNI’S SHRIMP: The famous shrimp truck on Oʻahu’s North Shore now has a brick-and-mortar location inside the H Mart Food Hall serving up all the favorites from classic scampi to hot and spicy.
SADIE’S DUL: Two words – Korean barbecue. Aside from grilled kalbi, barbecue chicken, and spicy pork, you also can get other Korean favorites like kimchi soup (kimchi jigae), soft tofu soup (soondubu), and bibimbap, a mixed rice dish with plenty of vegetables.
IREH: Serving a variety of noodles, rice, and tteokbokki, a spicy rice cake that’s a popular street food in South Korea, there’s sure to be a dish to satisfy your carb craving. If your taste buds prefer a little less heat, there’s plenty of mild options as well.
NATSUBOSHI: Japanese ramen and rice are always nice and that’s what you’ll find here – plenty of tasty and comforting options like miso ramen, shoyu ramen, and sukiyaki bowls. Our orders vary each time, but always include a side of fried gyoza.
LEFT WING CHICKEN: Korean-style fried chicken your way – bone-in or boneless – in three flavors: original, sweet & spicy, and chili soy garlic. Grab a don (rice bowl) for lunch or a large 30-piece order to feed the family.
BLACK SHEEP CREAM CO.: The local creamery based in Waipi‘o known for its original flavors with catchy names opened its third location. Grab a cone of “Creep It Real” (cookies and cream) to keep it classic, or for the Sir Mix-A-Lot fans who happen to love bacon, “I Like Pig Butts and I Cannot Lie” (maple cream with handmade maple bacon brittle).
ALOHA ‘AINA: This is where you can get your boba tea fix and try the latest trend – dalgona coffee, a whipped drink that is sure to tempt any coffee lover’s sweet tooth. The Korean-style toast sandwiches are tasty too.
